Creating and Thinking Outdoors

Hello Kiindergarten Families!

How are you?  I am well.  My trip was fabulous- so full of new experiences and beauty.  This week was also so nice- a lovely way to return.  Clara and Lenouris did a great job creating a fun atmosphere and Clara planned exciting activities to share with the students.  I will try to get caught up on pages this weekend.  I had to take everything off my computer, and now I can work again.

Today was so beautiful, we decided to take advantage of the weather and had open choice time outside.  The students were very involved in their work and were able to stay concentrated in a new work setting.  The topics the students were exploring were: Mosaics and Patterns (it turned out as one big mandala!), Obstacle course creation, problem solving to construct pyramids, journaling, story problems and measurement.  These topics also combined with the key skills of teamwork, collaboration, communication, feedback (giving and receiving), and compromise.  I really enjoyed hearing how the students discussed and share their opinions and how they came together in their work as a solid team.  Many of the students were also flexible to be able to share feedback and give support to students who were working on other ideas, taking a short break from their team's work and then returning seamlessly.

It was a perfect end to such a special week!  Looking forward to all the learning we will do at our next field trip on Tuesday!  Thanks for reading!  Love, Jennifer
